
Sometimes online videos go viral, and British photographer Rob Whitworth’s Traffic in Frenetic HCMC is one such work. A short time-lapse visual documenting the chaos of Ho Chi Minh City’s traffic, Whitworth has added a new, visually stunning dimension to an oft talked about, increasingly passé topic. After years of construction and delays, Thu Thiem Tunnel, which runs under the Saigon River, finally opened last month.

The two municipal governments should work with relevant agencies to issue the ban as a pilot project, which will be implemented in other provinces and cities nationwide once it proves effective, Phuc said at a meeting with the National Traffic Safety Committee on Wednesday.

The plan, which is estimated to cost VND1.2 trillion (US$57.6 million) plan, was initiated by the Innovative Technology Development Corporation (ITD) and is waiting for approval from the city.
