Kabin Renaissance Riverside Hotel, 8-15 Ton Duc Thang, Q1 Tel: 3822 0033 Offers authentic, gourmet Szechuan and Cantonese cuisine in an elegant setting, with beautiful décor and the bonus of excellent river views. The menus for both lunch and dinner are extensive, and this is without doubt one of the city’s finest restaurants both for dim sum and classic Chinese fare.

Also does a good lunchtime dim sum buffet for US$14.50. Usually packed, it is best to make bookings in advance. Tan Hai Van 162 Nguyen Trai, Q1 Tel: 3925 0824 Right in the middle of a gaggle of all-night restaurants, this bustling 24-hour venue offers the full range of Chinese food, from dim sum and noodle soup to seafood, including abalone. One of the best-known restaurants in town.
