An Era Of Half Humanity
16 November 2017 9:00 am
Vin Gallery is running an exhibition of work by Yiu Chi Leung until Monday, Nov. 20.
Haunted by shadows of a car accident from childhood, Yiu Chi Leung lives with the risk of danger and threats posed by the society. Having also witnessed the environmental damage caused by local industrialization, he re-examines the costs and benefits of scientific and technological advancement on civilization. This has led to this present exhibition, An Era of Half-Humanity, which reflects his concerns on industrial globalization and his hope on the future of our society.
Using painting to blend temporal and realistic scenes, Leung’s sense of space and strokes in his work create an immersive visual experience on the audience, an experience that leaves the viewer with a sense of insecurity.
The industrial revolution has led us to unconsciously live in a world of diminishing faith and empathy, a world that leads us to live without soul and purpose, creating what Leung calls an Era of Half-Humanity.
Vin Gallery is at 6 Le Van Mien, Thao Dien, Q2, HCMC
